Payment guide

Crypto’s a pain to deal with, we know this. It’s very unfortunate that we have to use it. This guide will go over a few common methods you can use to purchase crypto to pay for your order.

Moonpay method, self custody UPDATE JAN 2025

Accepts: debit cards, bank transfer

UPDATE JAN 2025. Moonpay appears to be putting new orders on a 24 hour hold after buying the crypto. Your best bet if you want to go this route is to now purchase a few dollars more than you need and send it to a software wallet (electrum LTC is good for this) before making your order and sending it to us. Given that LTC network fees (not moonpay fees) are generally under 1 cent, you’ll only be subject to the change in value of LTC during this time. This updated method will go over this method

Fees: 4.5% for card payments, 1% for bank transfers (minimum 3.99) + network fees at that time
This method is the easiest, however does come with the drawback of higher fees. Certain countries may disallow the purchase of crypto with credit/debit cards, however this seems to work well in the United States, and certain European countries. In this guide, we’re going to use LTC. I highly suggesting using LTC over BTC to save on transaction fees. It’s the same steps regardless.

Step 1: Find the USD value of the order that you would like to place on the website. You can find shipping rates at checkout.
Step 2: Download a LTC wallet (I recommend https://electrum-ltc.org/), set up a new wallet, note the addresses tab (you can use any of these).
Step 3: In a new browser tab, go to https://www.moonpay.com/buy and select LTC under the dropdown menu.
Step 4: Switch to purchase in quantities of LTC, not in dollar amounts. Google $xxx (your order value) to LTC and use this value when purchasing it, plus a few percent in case LTC drops in the 24 hour period. You can sell back the extra on paypal or another service later.
Step 5: Go through the verification steps at moonpay. (Note, we do not obtain these details)
Step 6: When asked for the “send to” address at moonpay, copy and paste ANY of the addresses listed under the “addresses” tab on electrum-ltc.
Step 7: After you get a notification that you have received your LTC in electrum (around a day later), place your order on teahrt. If we changed the price on something during this time, we will honor the old price if you shoot us a ticket. Same if you’re less than 7$ short due to the market dropping.
Step 8: Use the “Send” tab on electrum to send the amount of LTC quoted to the address at checkout.
Step 9: Wait for a processing email. You should get one within 12 hours (usually much sooner). If you don’t, don’t panic, your funds are not lost if they were sent to the correct address at checkout on teahrt, just reach out.

Paypal

Paypal is an ok option for buying and sending cryptocurrency. They sometimes do have hold times on sending crypto for the first time. You will be required to use KYC. I suggest using LTC for lowest transfer fees. Note that you may have to provide person info/ID to Paypal, we do not receive this information.

To purchase crypto, on a desktop/laptop you’ll
1: Log into your PayPal account on desktop or
2: go to the finances tab
3: Purchase a few $ more of LTC more than the quoted price on checkout (This is just to ensure you have enough to send after fees, there is a *slight* amount of payment undertolerance, so don’t worry if it’s not exact exact, but try to get it within 0.05 LTC and it should autoconfirm)
4: Go through checkout to the page with the address and amount

COMMON ERROR
5: Copy and paste the address, ensuring it’s going to that crypto address and NOT a random paypal username. If you cannot get it to select the wallet address instead of the paypal username, please contact us before placing the order.

To purchase crypto on a mobile device

1: Download the paypal app, sign in.
2: Purchase crypto for the first time, this will prompt you to enter some user info.
3: Follow this guide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cng0j0qVcM (substituting BTC for LTC)

Robinhood

1. Sign up for Robinhood at https://robinhood.com/signup/ (you will be asked for usual information when signing up for financial services, like address and SSN, and then some questions about trading experience. Answer those however fits you)

2. Allow them to review your information; don’t worry about anything that says a few days, it should only take a few minutes if everything checks out and matches

3. Once you’re past signup, you should see a message asking to fund your account. Just click ‘Fund later’ to go to your homepage. Wait 10 minutes to allow time for your information to be reviewed, and refresh the homepage (log back in if needed)

4. Find the ‘Account’ button in the top right, and click ‘Transfers’

5. On web, you’ll have to scroll to see the ‘Linked accounts’ section. There, click ‘Add new account.’ You can either add a debit card or bank account; debit cards have instant transfers to your investment account, so definitely the preferred form. Enter your card information, and add it.

6. Onto verification; Robinhood will charge your card $1.95 and the transaction name will have a 6 digit code in it. They will ask you for this code; enter it, and the charge will remove itself.

7. Go back to the ‘Transfers’ menu, and click ‘Transfer money.’ Transfer your order amount + a few dollars into your individual investing account from your card.

8. Find ‘Crypto’ at the top of the page once you’re done transferring in your funds. Search for your preferred crypto and select it to take you to its trading page.

9. If your information has been reviewed and accepted properly, you should see a “Buy and sell crypto 24/7” button along the right sidebar. Click that to be taken to the Robinhood Crypto agreement, and scroll until you can agree to it; if in that button’s place there’s a message telling you that you’re being reviewed still, just keep waiting.

10. You should be taken to the buy menu now. Robinhood buy and send fees are relatively low, so you should be safe simply using all of your funds in your account to buy. Review your order, and place it. It should be nearly instant.

11. Go back to the trading page for your preferred crypto and on the right, the buy menu should show now that you’ve signed the crypto agreement. Click the dropdown next to ‘Buy [your preferred crypto]‘ and select ‘Send and receive.’ Make sure you are on ‘Send [your preferred crypto].’

12. Send your order amount directly to the address on your TeaHRT order confirmation; there is no need for an external wallet. Usually these orders only take 5-10 minutes to complete, if that.

13. Go celebrate your journey ahead <3

Venmo

Do not use venmo, you can TRADE on venmo, but it seems in most areas transferring it to another wallet (aka spending it) isn’t allowed.

Cashapp

Cashapp isn’t preferred, but is an option. It should really only be considered as an absolute last option. BTC fees (that we don’t get) vary widely depending on a number of factors. In some cases you’ll end up spending only 3-4 dollars more, when the blockchain is congested it can be a lot higher.

Steps:

They will ask for ID before buying, we do not receive these details.

First, go to https://mempool.space on your phone and check for the “high priority” fee rate in USD for your order. Note down the amount in USD.

To purchase and send btc on cashapp, you will first open the app, and click on the homepage.

Click the option labeled “BUY BITCOIN”, purchase the order amount + network fees that we found on mempool.space. After this, click the paper airplane option, and fill in the *exact* amount of bitcoin, and copy and paste the address shown at checkout.

Coinbase

Coinbase is another option for the United States and some other countries. Double check you’re allowed to purchase in your country of origin before going through the trouble of setting up an account.

Drawbacks for coinbase include fees and holding times before being able to withdraw crypto. To minimize these fees, you should choose a coin we take OTHER than BTC or ETH. Both BTC and ETH often have high fees.

Regardless, if you already have an account, or use their pro feature, they’re a decent choice.

TROCADOR (Good for international/ no KYC / alternative payment methods)

Trocador is not an exchange, but rather a site that shows different exchanges that often don’t require KYC.

To use Trocador, you will need your own crypto wallet. I suggest using Exodus, and purchasing LTC/BCH. Either way, the guide is pretty much the same.

You will first need to setup your own exodus wallet, and then go to this link

https://trocador.app/en/?fiat=1

Choose a service that matches your requirements (payment method, KYC)

Send this crypto to your own wallet, and you can then send it to us during checkout.

Side note, trocador is also great for exchanging between two different cryptocurrencies. If you’re paranoid, you can swap from whatever you have to XMR and send that instead.

Especially paranoid people (kycnot.me)

If you’re super worried, there are other ways to purchase crypto w/o an ID.
Here’s a link to a website that will show you other exchanges you can obtain your crypto of choice without providing personal information. It is outside the scope of this guide to go through every exchange listed there, I suggest doing some research on your own if you have to go this way. It’s not especially difficult to setup your own wallet, but will take some reading and time.

localcoinswap (cash in mail option, lots of other payment methods)

Localcoinswap is a newer exchange for buying different crypto pairs with various payment methods. Make sure you use a seller with a high reputation, and there are usually no issues.

Some common methods are cash in mail, bank transfer, paypal.
